Flip Buddies

Flip Buddies is Vlad Palacio's friendly three-dimensional interpretation of Othello. The familiar eight-by-eight board is populated by animated pill characters that flip, jump and change allegiance when they are captured. Classic mode preserves the standard rules, while Enhanced mode adds earned abilities including Undo, Shield and Corner Claim, followed by an expanded celebration at the end of a match.

Solo players can choose from three CPU difficulty levels, see legal-move hints and preserve an unfinished match in browser storage. Private friend rooms add invitation codes, ready checks, reconnection and rematches that swap colours. Practice rankings track several time windows, while ten character styles, original music, light and dark themes and reduced-motion support give the board more personality. An HTML fallback remains available when WebGL cannot run.

Choose Play Now for a CPU match or Play with Friends to create or join a private room. Select Classic or Enhanced rules and, for solo play, choose a difficulty. Black moves first. Select a glowing legal square and confirm Place Pill.

A legal move traps at least one opposing piece in a straight line between the new piece and another piece of your colour; every trapped piece flips to your side. If you have no legal move, your turn passes automatically. The game ends when neither player can move, and the player controlling the most pieces wins. Enhanced mode also lets you spend abilities earned during the match.
